I'm passing. Fingers trying to crack, so... hands smeared, gloves on, and not much activity.

Not much crafting today. I finished yesterday’s watercolor and added a heat embossed sentiment that just didn’t turn out as nicely as I’d have liked. Just going to put it in my art journal as a practice piece.

Just going to put it in my art journal as a practice piece. That is NICE! Very well done with the balloons! You make me want to work on watercolor more. Maybe I should take them along tomorrow...

I'm still working on that layout. Having trouble figuring out the journaling and embellishments.

IMG_5230 by Gabriella B, on Flico I crafted but am posting now. Pretty proud of this layout as I used 8 sheets from a 6x6 pad and I used three different embossing folders to embossing the papers. I am so happy to use those folders as I think I have about a dozen folders and rarely use them. Might try this type of look again but run an ink pad over the paper to make it stand out more. Plus another thing is that I used those random photos that I like but don’t deserve a lot of their own.

Just going to put it in my art journal as a practice piece. You did a great job getting the highlights on the balloons. I would be thrilled to get this card and don’t look at Kristina Werner’s example too much, she is paid to do this and I bet a lot of her stuff hits the trash. She has a lot of great ideas but her level of perfection is a joy killer.

Here’s what I wish I’d done differently. I got the purple balloon way too wet then I overworked trying to get the color in. Which also made the edge of the blue one bleed. But the real problem came from using a cheap somewhat solid stamp that I’ve never used before on watercolor paper with Versamark and gold embossing powder. It doesn’t look that bad in the photo but in real life it looks blurry with missing spots. I should have stamped it on a separate piece of paper and adhered it. Sometimes I’m just not as patient as I could be! Oh and I almost always forget that darn anti-static powder!

FUN layout! I think it's neat that you did random, "every day" photos. I like your embossed papers, but yes, I think if you ink them a bit it would make them more noticeable. In a light color, maybe, but dark enough to give them some shading.

Try keeping your anti-static powder with your embossing powder. That's what I do, and it's right "up front" so I remember it better.

So... anti static powder. Where do you get it? And is it necessary? I don't wet emboss much but was gifted some pretty powders that I would love to try out.

So... anti static powder. Where do you get it? And is it necessary? I don't wet emboss much but was gifted some pretty powders that I would love to try out. Anti static powder helps remove static, dust or oils from your hands from the area you want to emboss so you won’t melt the embossing powder anywhere except where you stamp your image. The first one I bought was a little fabric bag with the powder already in it. I just bought another new one where the powder is in a little jar at the bottom of a retractable brush. Really I’ve done it with cornstarch before and you can remove the excess afterwards with a cotton or microfiber cloth. It does help you make a crisp image but the embossing powders are also tricky. Some are thicker and some are extra fine. The extra fine detail embossing powder works best for sentiments and intricate designs. I don’t have much luck with the glitter ones. Wish I’d known about that before I started collecting them. My favorites are my Gina K extra fine gold, silver and white. I have heard that Brutus Monroe embossing powders work well but I haven’t tried them yet.

So... anti static powder. Where do you get it? And is it necessary? I don't wet emboss much but was gifted some pretty powders that I would love to try out. What Gloria said. I started with a pouncing bag, but don't remember the brand. Then I got something similar to Gloria's jar thing. Mine is by EK Success, but the brush doesn't retract. I am not really sure which one I like best, but I think I'm actually leaning towards the bag one. The brush on the EK S is getting "wonky", and it doesn't seem to put out as much powder as the bag one. If you get the bag type, I suggest folding it in half the long way, then clipping the ends together with a bull clip. That way, you are not actually touching the bag with the powder, thereby not getting your fingers powdery, and it gives you a bit more control. I don't know which brand Gloria has, but this on Amazon looks intriguing. That brush looks like it would work better than the EK S one.

Would a dryer sheet work? Free and clear. Just trying to not buy something else.

Would a dryer sheet work? Free and clear. Just trying to not buy something else. I've used a dryer sheet, but not had much luck with it. If you want to save money, buy a box of corn starch, and a pair of knee high hose (Dollar Tree?). Cut the toes out of the hose, add some corn starch, and tie a knot in the tops of the toes. Use BOTH of them because I think one could let too much powder out. Pounce lightly.
